Responsible, Educated Adolescents Can Help

REACH is one of the many clubs of Conestoga High School. Our motto, Responsible and Educated Adolescents Can Help, describes the club's goal to spread the drug-free message to the community.

More specifically, we focus on the different schools in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District. Our elementary program, directed at fourth graders, consists of anti-smoking/drinking skits, large and small group discussions with the children, and usually some time to hang out and get to know the kids. The elementary program also includes two letters that we members help the students to write: prom letters and time capsule letters. Overall, a major part of our elementary program allows the children to be around positive high school influences.

Currently, our middle school program is under construction. We have held sessions with select middle school students to get an idea of how we can "reach" the eighth graders of T/E and Valley Forge.

Here at Conestoga, our program is probably less obvious than in the middle or elementary schools. However we do participate in Red Ribbon Week with S.A.D.D., hold bake sales, and spread general awareness of the downfalls of drugs and alcohol.

Possibly the most important part of being in REACH is the pledge that we make when we decide to join. Every member makes the decision to remain drug- and alcohol-free for his/her entire high school career. It is a major decision, of course, but no one knows a REACH member that has regretted it.
